Alpha Kovid is found in many parts of Sri Lanka

Kovid patients infected with the British Kovid strain B117 (alpha) have been found in many parts of Sri Lanka.

According to the biological samples obtained, the infected species were found in Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Kuliyapitiya, Wariyapola, Habaraduwa, Tissamaharama, Karapitiya and Ragama.

He also said that a person infected with B.1.617.2 (Delta), which is considered to be an Indian Kovid strain, was found at the Wadduwa Quarantine Center.

It has been reported that the person had come to this country from India.

Dr. Chandima Jeewandara further stated that the latest study report on the spread of Kovid in the country was handed over to the Director General of Health Services this morning (10).
