The Kovid Task Force is focused on removing restrictions on several areas that are currently restricted on health recommendations.
The request was made by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa during a meeting of the Kovid Task Force chaired by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. These include the opening up of revenue-earning state-owned enterprises, permission to bring in construction workers, start-ups of small and medium-sized businesses in rural areas, and permission to operate three-wheelers.
The President gave permission for this and said that the police and health services should be closely monitored. Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena has been entrusted with the task of further strengthening the program of daily supply of essential food items to all parts of the country.
The President has instructed the IGP to obtain a daily report from the police on issues in each area and refer them to the relevant government agencies. He also informed the IGP to stop unwanted persons from traveling on the roads.
