Two persons were killed when a cab fell into a precipice in the Perawella area on the Medawela Randapola road in the Ambagasadowa police division.
The accident took place last evening (12), police stated.
A cab traveling from Medawela to Randapola had skidded off the road and overturned into a precipice while attempting to take a U-shaped bend on a hilly road.
The driver of the cab and two other passengers were injured in the accident and two of them died on admission to the Uvaparanagama Hospital.
The driver of the cab has been transferred to the Badulla Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased have been identified as 29 and 36 year old residents of Haggala and Galahagama areas respectively.
Ambagasdowa Police are conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, a person was killed in an accident near the Sengaloya bridge on the Chilaw-Puttalam road in the Arachchikattuwa police division.
The accident occurred when a bus traveling towards Puttalam from Chilaw collided with a motorbike coming from the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the accident died on admission to the Chilaw Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as a 43 year old resident of Weerakelewatta.
Arachchikattuwa police are conducting further investigations.
