Special relief for public servants who are infected with Kovid and stay at home

The Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the relevant officials to formulate a system to pay compensation from the Agrahara Insurance Fund to the public servants who are receiving treatment at home due to corona infection.

The Prime Minister gave these instructions during a discussion with representatives of the trade unions of the Sri Lanka People's Front and the United Trade Unions at Temple Trees.

Previously, the 2021 Budget Proposals introduced a system of compensation for the death of public servants due to corona infection and hospitalization.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Unit stated that the Prime Minister was also briefed by the trade union representatives on the need to make the public service more efficient.

The Prime Minister informed the trade union representatives about some of the irregularities in the procurement of the Railway Department.

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated that he will look into the irregularities in the Railway Department.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa also pointed out that the government has been informed about the restrictions on spending in state institutions at a time when the country's economy has been affected by the corona epidemic.
