The Secretary of the Railway Station Masters' Association Kasun Chamara has stated that the train which was scheduled to start running from tomorrow has been canceled until further notice. Although the operational staff of the railway station had been summoned to resume the operation of the train, it had been canceled yesterday (19) morning after being informed by the Railway Department that the train service had to be canceled.
He further stated that although the train service has been rescheduled and the necessary arrangements have been made, the trains will not run from tomorrow until further notice.
He further stated that although various parties suspect that this decision was taken due to a fuel crisis, his association could not give a definite answer in this regard and as an association the reason for taking this decision will be further investigated.
The approval of the Kovid Committee has not yet been obtained for the operation of the train due to the difficulty in maintaining distance between the passengers while using the train. However, the Secretary of the Station Masters' Association stated that the authorities are expected to pay attention to the need to maintain the train service several times or under the health safety measures proposed for those who go to work for essential duties.
