Allows mobile phone number transfer system for the first time

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Oshadha Senanayake states that the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has given its approval to the number transfer system used for mobile phones.

Under this scheme, the customer will be able to contact a telephone service provider without changing their current phone number.

The Telecommunications Commission said that the facility will be operational by March 2022 after all technical requirements are met.

TRC has instructed all service providers to set up a centralized database containing data on all customers who are technically important for this process.

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) said that a central database is required for the number mapping of subscribers and that the facility is currently studying the methods used by the operating countries.
