The Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance has announced that an island wide strike will be launched after November 03, darkening the entire country.
Convener of the Yugadanavi Power Plant Ranjan Jayalal stated at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday that the strike was being carried out to force the government to withdraw the agreement signed to hand over a part of the power plant to an American company.
He also stated that on the 3rd of next month all CEB employees island wide will come to Colombo and engage in a massive protest.
It is also planned to hold protests in front of 12 offices of the Deputy General Manager of the Electricity Board covering the entire island tomorrow at 19 noon.
Accordingly, protests will be held in 19 areas including Kuliyapitiya, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Tangalle, Galle, Ratnapura, Badulla, Trincomalee and Kiribathgoda tomorrow.
