Decision taken on letters of credit for vehicle import

Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella says that the Ministry of Finance has taken steps to cancel the letters of credit opened for the importation of vehicles after discussions with the relevant finance companies.

He was addressing a media briefing on Cabinet decisions today (15).

“Everything has a process with a policy decision. When opening letters of credit, three parties come to an agreement. Treasury, Bank and Manufacturer. All three parties agreed to cancel this. ”
