Bank governor says vehicle import restrictions will be lifted

Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal has said that the ban on vehicle imports could be considered by considering the inflow of foreign exchange into the country.

He hoped that not only the import of vehicles but also the current restrictions on imports would be able to balance foreign exchange earnings in the future.

He was addressing a conference organized by the International Chamber of Commerce online.

He said he was confident that Sri Lanka would now be able to successfully resume corona injection and resume its tourism business soon, and that the export-oriented industries would be able to move on at their usual pace, thereby bringing back foreign exchange to the country.
